Lately, I came across a short article saying work-life balance doesn’t really exist anymore. And I have to say — I fully agree.
Let’s be honest — especially with remote or hybrid work, separating your day into "work" and "life" zones is almost impossible.
Sure, if you’re in the office 5 days a week, maybe it’s easier to leave work behind at the door. But I bet most of us, even after hours, still have work thoughts:
- planning for the next day
- thinking how to improve things
- wondering why something didn’t go as expected
And when you work from home? Let’s not pretend — if you see a mountain of laundry or the dishwasher needs emptying, you’ll probably handle it between meetings. If your child is sick at home — your whole day becomes a mix of work and care duties.
Of course, not every company can give full flexibility. But let’s face it — when your employer trusts you, allows you to adjust your day a bit when needed — you’re also more willing to give your best when work requires extra effort, even outside “standard” hours.
I have this flexibility at omniIT. And honestly, for me, it’s the perfect setup.
I can be a working mum. I can take time in the morning for breakfast with my family and walk with my daughter to kindergarten without rushing. If needed — pick her up early. But I also don’t hesitate to log in after 5 PM if it’s required.
This is what I call work-life integration — not strict separation, but a system that lets both areas coexist in a way that works for me, my family, and my job.
And with this approach — I’m not only enjoying my family time but also growing professionally.
That’s why I believe work-life integration is the more realistic — and healthier — way to look at it today.
